Fentanyl Test Strips

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid, up to 100 times more potent than morphine. Ingesting a small amount of fentanyl can be lethal. It is sometimes sold as, or mixed with heroin, pressed into tablets, and used as a cutting agent in other drugs.

With these fentanyl test strips, you can quickly determine whether or not your sample contains fentanyl. The detection limit of this test is below 200 ng (200 billionths of a gram). Our fentanyl test strips have an accuracy rate of over 98%. This fentanyl test differs from our forensic fentanyl test kit in that this product includes test strips, a 5 ml vial, and a 10 mg microscoop. The forensic fentanyl test kit includes materials to swab and test residue.

Testing Non-Injected Drugs for Fentanyl

1. If your sample is in pill or crystal form, crush it into a powder.
2. Place the powder in a glass and add water. For MDMA and methamphetamine, add about 5 ml (one teaspoon) for every 10 mg of powder. This helps avoid false positives while still detecting any significant quantity of fentanyl. For other powdered drugs such as cocaine, add 10 ml (two teaspoons) of water for every 100 mg of sample. You may use a micro scoop to help you get the right amount.
3. Thoroughly stir the contents. It’s OK if some of the sample won’t dissolve.
4. Insert the test strip no deeper than the blue line.
5. Holding a test strip by the blue end, insert it into the solution (don’t go past the blue line).
6. Wait until the liquid travels up the strip to the test area (around 15 seconds).
7. Remove the strip from the water and wait about two minutes.
8. Interpret the results as indicated below.

Important: Fentanyl is never mixed evenly in other drugs. A fatal dose of fentanyl may be present in a small part of the sample. We recommend testing your entire sample. If this is not possible, testing the residue inside your container or baggie is better than nothing. Do so by dissolving the residue in about 2.5 ml (half a teaspoon) of water, and inserting the fentanyl strip into the water. Alternatively, you may find it easier to test residue with our forensic fentanyl test kit.

Testing Injected Drugs for Fentanyl

1. Prepare your shot and draw it into a syringe leaving several drops in the cooker. Do not shoot up yet!
2. Set the loaded syringe aside and 5 ml sterile water into the cooker.
3. Stir the mixture.
4. Holding a test strip by the blue end, insert it into the solution (don’t go past the blue line).
5. Wait until the liquid travels up the strip to the test area (around 15 seconds).
6. Throw the cooker, and any remaining liquid away. Any remaining solution is now toxic.
7. Interpret the results as indicated below.

Note: Not all fentanyl strip brands are the same! Some vendors advertise strips that don’t require measured dilution with water. The problem is, these strips can’t detect highly potent and deadly fentanyl analogs like carfentanil. While no fentanyl strip can detect all analogs, we believe our strips are the best because they can detect carfentanil, which is common and extremely dangerous. Our fentanyl strips are licensed and approved by Health Canada.
