DMT can’t be identified reliably with the naked eye. We recommend testing with at least 2 tests when testing DMT. Proper testing is a multi-step process, which helps reduce the chances of false positives, and screen for substances mis-sold as DMT.
- The primary test for DMT is the Hofmann test. It yields a yellow color if DMT is present.
- We also recommend the Marquis test, as a secondary test for DMT. Marquis also detects 5-MeO-DMT, DIPT, DPT, and 4-HO-MET, and many other substances.
- The Ehrlich test, is an excellent secondary test for DMT. It also detects harlamine and LSD.
