DMT can’t be identified reliably with the naked eye. We recommend testing with at least 2 tests when testing DMT. Proper testing is a multi-step process, which helps reduce the chances of false positives, and screen for substances mis-sold as DMT.
- The primary test for DMT is the Hofmann test. It yields a yellow color if DMT is present.
- We also recommend the Mecke test, as a secondary test for DMT. Mecke also detects 5-MeO-DMT, 4-HO-MiPT, DPT, and 4-HO-MET.
We’ve put together a DMT test kit package for your convenience.
Lastly, the Froehde test doesn’t react with DMT, so if you get a color change with Froehde, your sample definitely isn’t pure DMT.
